Our Story

In 2021, Robertstown celebrated its 150 years of European settlement. The Robertstown Ward of Goyder Council includes the towns of Robertstown, Point Pass and Bower with a combined town population of 211 residents, and the surrounding farms contributing to a total of 350.

Regardless of our smallness, we are a caring group who like to see that everybody has functions on weekdays and on weekends to attend, a Community Centre to drop into for Coffee and a chat any day of the week and visits to check on anyone's welfare. We are a small cohesive community, striving to survive.

Nestled between Eudunda and Burra, Robertstown sees much through traffic with caravans and truck transports regularly passing through. Local attractions include the World's End Reserve, which attracts many campers on weekends and Inspiration Point, which offers a wide view of the local area. We are also part of the Heysen Trail and the Lavender Trail.

Sport is on many residents weekly agenda and we have members in the Southern Saints Football and Netball Clubs, an amalgamation of Eudunda and Robertstown players and followers. In Summer, we have the Robertstown and Brady Creek Tennis Clubs, the Robertstown Bowling Club, Falcons Basketball Club and the Eudunda/Robertstown Cricket Club for locals to choose from.

On weekdays, the town has a choice of two public playgrounds, one behind the Community Grounds in the main street and one alongside the netball courts at the southern entrance way to the town. We have a local store run by Merv Lehmann which has been in operation for 110 years, with Merv having worked there for 74 years. He is our local legend and willingly shows visitors around the histroical shop, which still has some of the original fittings.

The Robertstown Hotel is open daily, providing meals Thursdays to Saturday nights, and Sunday lunches. Tschirn's Garage offers fuel locally and vehicle servicing and repair. The Robertstown Community Centre hosts the Robertstown Post Office for all your postal requirements, banking and a gift shop; a Centrelink Access Point, a bay of computers for online access, free WiFi, a Library with both library books for borrowing  and donated books for taking or swapping, and a Cafe for coffees, teas and a place to sit and chat comfortably. We also have local historical information and family books for sale.

Come and visit us if you are in the Goyder region. We could find you some local information, a comfortable place to sit, and any goods you may require.
