The Burra Revegetation Group helps cultivate local plan species not generally available from commercial growers.

The group is an inclusive collective of community members who share a common interest in the preservation, promotion and revegetation of the local region's unique plants & biodiversity.  We organise workshops on various topics relating to plant species and their propagation.

When: Gathers 10.00-12.00 Tuesdays (First & Third of the Month) & Saturdays (Second & Fourth of the Month)

Where: Old Aberdeen Oval, North Burra 2579 (track opposite the Burra Golf Course sign) off the Barrier Highway).

The Burra Reveg Group and Nursery cares for the biodiversity and amenity along 7 kms of the Burra Creek from Mitchell Flat in the South to the Burra Golf Club in the north.

We compliment the Burra Revegetation Group, as the creek species are generally not available from commercial growers.

Re-purposed old sporting facilities make a nursery for the propagation of plants.

​

The third weekend of October and the garden gates open in the Goyder region for a weekend gardening adventure.  See a diverse range of planting styles offering a unique insight into both town and farm gardens, owner created and maintained, no professional designers here, just inspirational doable gardens for visitors to enjoy. Made with hardy plants, local stone and lots of love and devotion. 

Guest writers, art and garden workshops, special children’s fun activities and stallholders to tempt you, add to the local community flavour. Include country hospitality, with sumptuous morning teas, home-made and delicious for a perfect weekend.

 

When: October 16 & 17 2021

Where: Goyder Region

Entry: $15 for the whole weekend

Mid North Arts (SA) is a collective of enthusiastic arts professionals engaged in a wide range of initiatives.

For example, Mid North Arts participants have written a play 'Let's Make a Deal'; led the Heart & Soul of the Country Goyder children's art project; produced the Burra Country Pride Picnic 2023; showcased local talent at the Christmas Allsorts concert and took part in the Burra Christmas Pageant. And home of the Drag Duo, The St Just Sisters.

The Burra Garden Club

About:

The Garden Club meets in the home of the host gardener (changes monthly) for a stroll around their garden, a cuppa and a chat.

Everyone brings a plate.  Garden cuttings and gardening advice is shared amongst the group.

About:  

The Burra Combined Probus Club provides the opportunity for active retirees to meet and share friendships, fun and social gatherings. We may either have a short meeting, followed by a guest speaker and a shared lunch at the Bon Accord, or we may have an outing, such as a trip to the Blyth Cinema or a BBQ at the Burra Gorge Creek. 

Speakers are chosen for their interesting life stories and often have a local connection. They may also provide relevant information on lifestyle choices for our age group.

About: Burra Branch of the National Trust cares and preserves over 14 properties across Burra.

Displays are organised at the various sites, and events are held to commemorate historical dates. We are now joint partners with the Goyder Council in the  heritage passport, where tourists can at their own leisure view buildings linked to Burra's history, with a key purchased from the Visitor information Centre.
